Well worth the time to watch! Healthy no-till soil vs degraded conventionally tilled soil.
Dr. Buz Kloot
Every 6 months or so, Ray Archuleta calls me up and says "hey, do you have that footage where I say 'this soil is addicted to fertilizers and chemicals?'". And every 6 months I search for the footage and edit a new copy and send it to him. However, Ray and I are like squirrels and acorns - we lose the original video files and every 6 months he calls me up again and says "Hey, do you have that footage where I say 'this soil is addicted to fertilizers and chemicals'"? and then I have to go and find it, edit it and send it to him....again.
That stops today. I am posting this on Vimeo, Facebook and YouTube, so that if I get run over by a bus my friend Ray can ask someone to find these clips.
For some context, we shot this material in 2012 (in Ray's Furnished Room Over the Garage) for the NRCS's Soil Health campaign "Dig a Little, learn a Lot" that was devised by the inimitable Ron Nichols. We knew that the "this soil is addicted" clip would be nixed by the higher-ups (who themselves face pressure from powerful interests), so we self censored and left this part out. Ray of course was mad about that, but we persuaded him that getting the message out there without poking the bear was more important than being.. ummm.... a little more blunt and getting shut down. Now that Ray is his own boss, he can show this video to his audiences without getting his boss in trouble. Ray, your outreach on soil health has been transformative to so many lives - keep up the good work! ... See MoreSee Less
